What's your availability?
Our booking calendar is always up to date with the current year and next year open.
When do I pay the deposit and balance?
You pay a £300 deposit to confirm your booking. Full balance is due 10 weeks before your holiday starts. We'll remind you, so no need to worry about dates!
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes! If you want to pay in chunks rather than all at once, just let us know and we'll organise that together.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 10 weeks before your holiday and you get everything back except the £300 deposit. Cancel less than 10 weeks before and you lose all money paid. Check your travel insurance as cancellations are usually covered.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, please get it! Make sure it covers cancellations, medical costs, personal belongings, and public liability. You'll also need a GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) for medical emergencies in France.
COSTS & EXTRAS
How much does it cost?
Lake hire is £1,400/week for up to 2 anglers, or £1,500/week for 3-4 anglers. Get in touch for full pricing and availability. For non angling guests it's £80 per week.
What's included in the lake hire price?
Exclusive lake hire, use of facilities (carp cradles, weigh slings, tripods, collapsible buckets), wifi, parking, and exclusive use of the Anglers Clubhouse. Food and bait is not included.
Can I book meals separately?
Yes! You don't all have to have the same meal package. If three of you want breakfast and one doesn't, that's fine. Just let us know what each person wants when you book.
Can I make changes to the menu?
Absolutely. We'll be in touch a couple of weeks before you arrive to sort any allergies or things you don't like and we'll see what we can do for you.
GETTING HERE
Where are you located?
We're in Normandy, France. Our address is 51 Chemin Des Genêts, Larchamp 53220. See our Contact page for full sat nav details and directions.
What are the ferry and tunnel options?
Check our Getting Here section - we've got all the info on ports, drive times, and which routes have tolls. The main ferry operators are Brittany Ferries (Portsmouth to Caen or Cherbourg) and DFDS (Dover to Calais). For the tunnel, it's Le Shuttle (Folkestone to Calais). Prices vary depending on when you book and time of year, so worth checking all options. We're closest to Caen and Cherbourg (1.5 hours drive, no tolls) - Calais is about 4 hours with tolls.
What do I need for driving in France?
UK sticker on your car (the old GB stickers aren't valid anymore - you need the UK one), warning triangle, hi-vis vests (one per person), and headlamp beam deflectors. Search "France driving kit" on Amazon (around £25) and you'll get everything in one pack.
Do I need health insurance for France?
Yes. You need a valid GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) for medical emergencies. Apply free at nhs.uk (takes about 10 days). You still need travel insurance too for things like repatriation and non-urgent care.
Do I need insect repellent?
Yes, bring mossie repellent, especially in warmer months.
ARRIVAL & YOUR STAY
What time can I arrive?
Arrival is flexible - as early as possible depending on when the previous guests leave. We'll confirm your specific arrival time at least a week before you travel.
What time is checkout?
10am on Saturday.
How many swims are there?
We're have 3 double swims with space for your bivvy, rod pod, and all your gear. All on one level for safe fish handling.
How do I get my gear to my swim?
We'll trailer everything to your swim when you arrive - except your rods, no one wants those bouncing around in the back of a trailer!
Can I drink the tap water?
Our water is from a well and is perfectly clean for cooking, showers and making tea and coffee (it's fine if it's boiled). Otherwise, it's bottled water for drinking.
Do you allow pets?
Sorry, no - we don't allow pets.
THE FISH
What's the stock?
We stock mirrors, commons and ghosties the average weight is 35lb up to 58lb+. We'll be netting at the end of the 2026 season, so more details to follow then. Check out our On The Bank page to see our catch reports.
What other species are in the lake?
Zander, tench, and pike.
BAIT & tactics
What's your house bait?
We offer locally sourced, high quality house bait to keep the fish healthy and water quality spot-on. The carp know it's food from day one, so you're off to the best start.
Can I bring my own bait?
Yes, your own hook baits and tinned sweetcorn, No shelf-life products, glugs, nuts, maggots, or particles except our house-prepared maize and hemp.
What bait do you stock?
High quality lake pellet with attractor, prepared maize, prepared hemp and a range of 4 boilies in two sizes with matching pop-ups, wafters, boosts/glugs (limited to 500ml per angler per week), dips and sprays. See our Lake Rules bait section for more details.

FISHING AT GENÊTS
What's the lake bed like?
Light brown silt over clay with a hard bottom and natural features created by the carps favourite feeding spots.
What do I need to bring?
You need your own landing net (minimum 42 inches). We provide carp cradles, weigh slings, collapsible buckets, tripods and carp care kits free of charge.
What line and hooks are required?
12-15lb line only. Barbless or microbarbed hooks only. See our Lake Rules page for full tackle requirements.
How far do I need to cast?
Between 70-110 yards (maximum) depending on which swim you're in.
ON-SITE
What's on-site?
Two hot showers and two toilets located in The Anglers Clubhouse where you can have your meals. Tea/coffee facilities, fridge/freezer space including separate bait freezer, wifi over the whole lake, parking and The Lake Shop for essentials: milk, water, snacks, drinks, ice creams, and fishing tackle. Yes, wifi covers the whole lake
Do you have accommodation?
Yes, there is accommodation on site.
