PRIVACY & COOKIES POLICY

THE STRAIGHTFORWARD VERSION

We know you can't wait to read this, but if you do, it's not as boring as you think! Your privacy matters to us. We look after your personal information properly and always follow the law. Below is how we collect, use, and protect your info. By using our site and booking with us, you're saying "got it, I'm cool with this."

It's worth a read because it tells you exactly what we do with the data you give us. We've kept it simple and jargon-free (well, mostly - sorry, there are some terms we legally have to use). Any questions? Drop us a line.

The Basics

We're officially called The Take @ Genets, and we're an auto-entrepreneur business providing carp fishing holidays in France.
SIRET: 991 566 589 00016

Our address is:
51 Chemin Des Genets
Larchamp, 53220
France

In GDPR terms, we're the "data controller" - fancy speak for "we're responsible for your information and what it's used for." "Personal Data" means any information that identifies you (like your name, email, or phone number).

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect personal data when you:

  • Book a fishing holiday with us
  • Contact us with questions
  • Sign up for our newsletter (optional)

The information we typically collect includes:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Age
  • Booking details (dates, payment info)

We only collect what's necessary to manage your booking and stay in touch. We won't ask for irrelevant stuff like your favourite bait flavour or how much you've really spent on carping gear 😉

What Do We Do With Your Information?

We use your data to:

  • Process and manage your booking
  • Send you booking confirmations and pre-arrival info
  • Answer your questions and provide customer service
  • Send you updates about the lake, fishing reports, or availability
  • Improve our services

We will NEVER sell your information to anyone. Ever. That's a promise!

Cookies

Our website uses cookies (the digital kind, not the chocolate chip kind - and we know carp don't like them either!). Cookies just help us understand how people use our site and make it work better.
We use:

  • Essential cookies - to make the website work properly
  • Analytics cookies - these are anonymous, they just help us see how the site gets used so we can make it better

You can turn off cookies in your browser settings if you want to.

How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

We keep all your data for 7 years, which we need to for accounting and tax purposes. After that, we securely delete it.

At Anytime You Can Ask Us To:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Delete your data (as long as you don't have any outstanding payments with us)
  • Unsubscribe you from our updates

Email us at info@genetscarpfishing.com and we'll get it fixed within 30 days.

Security

Your data is stored securely and password-protected. Only we have access to it - nobody else.

Third Parties

We don't share your personal information with third parties except:

  • Payment processors - to handle your booking payment securely (they never see your full card details)
  • Website hosting provider - stores the data on secure servers

That's it. We make sure anyone who handles your data protects it properly.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, any changes will be posted here with the date we made the update.

Questions or Complaints?

If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, contact us first at info@genetscarpfishing.com and we will sort it out. If we haven't managed to do this, you can complain to France's data protection authority (CNIL) or the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
