Lake Rules

Keeping Our Fish Happy & Everyone Safe

We simply want to give the best fishing experience and look after our carp. That’s what these rules are all about. This is all common sense for serious anglers, but here’s the full picture so we’re all on the same page.

Let’s Get Fishing

We’ll confirm your arrival time so we can get you in as early as possible - giving you maximum time on the bank. That just depends on when the previous guests are heading off. Check-out’s at 10am on your last day.

Fish Care - The Important Bit

We’re serious about looking after our carp, and we know you are too.

Your tackle:

  • Maximum 3 rods per angler
  • Line: 12-15lb only
  • Barbless or microbarbed hooks only - keeps the fish safe and in top shape

Rigs:

  • No leaders, lead core, long-shank hooks, braid main line, bent rigs, or OMC twig setups
  • We know you know not to leave rods unattended, but worth saying - for your safety and the fish’s

On the bank:

  • No boats - bait boats only
  • We provide floating carp cradles and cradles with adjustable legs, weigh slings and tripods (free to use - just wet them first)
  • Use a carp care kit or antiseptic after every hook removal (provided by us, in case you don't have one with you)

Handling:

  • Return the fish within 10 minutes - disinfect, weigh, photo, release
  • Always keep it low - never hold a carp standing up
  • To release your carp safely, keep your hand on her tail, move her back and forth until she’s ready to kick off
  • No sacking, marking, or retaining fish in slings or nets

Bait

We only use high quality bait - keeps the fish healthy and the water quality spot-on.

  • Glugs, boosts or ‘goo’ products (boosts and glugs are limited to 500ml per angler per week)
  • No non-house pellet
  • No nuts or particles except our house-prepared maize or hemp
  • No maggots or casters
  • You can bring your own pop-ups and wafters (the ones we have on site will match our boilies)
  • Tinned sweetcorn is fine

Around the Lake

A few basics to keep everyone happy and the lake in top shape:

  • Green crates for recycling, black bins for general rubbish (keeps the wildlife away!)
  • No swimming, pets, or fires
  • No muddy boots in the lodge please - leave the banks outside
  • Smoking’s fine outside, not in the lodge - use the ashtrays at the swims or picnic bench
  • Only flush the loo roll we supply - our septic system is fussy about what it’ll handle!
  • Common sense stuff: a wee in the bush is fine, but use the lodge for everything else!
  • Please respect the lake, the land, and the fish as much as we do

Just So We’re All Clear

We never want to do this, but if these rules aren’t followed, we’ll have to ask you to pack up and leave without any refunds.
We know you get it — the rules keep our fish healthy, everyone safe, and the lake in top shape.
